For more than seven years, Bill Murray has served as a strong leader to PRSA and as a friend to so many of us. During this time he has played an integral role in helping to drive forward an extended period of structural growth for PRSA and he has consistently gone above and beyond for our organization.
I am writing to inform you that, after these many years of service, Bill has resigned as chief executive officer so that he can pursue a new opportunity outside the communications industry. In the coming days, PRSA will be embarking upon a national search, led by the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, to identify a new chief executive officer.
Thanks to the efforts of Bill, as well as so many of you, PRSA is a strong and healthy organization that weathered the recession and continues to grow. As we enter a new chapter in PRSA’s history, we look forward to identifying a new leader who can help guide the organization to capitalize upon the opportunities created by today’s rapidly transforming business and media environment, and the fast-growing PR sector.
Bill will remain on staff through June 1 to help maintain normal business operations as we conduct a national search for a new chief executive who can help guide our organization during these exciting times. He will stay on to ensure a smooth and successful transition.
Attached is a copy of the formal press release announcement. We will keep you updated with news as we conduct our search and know that we are grateful for your dedication and commitment to PRSA.
Joe Cohen, APR
2014 National Chair, PRSA
